Dear Friend,
What is the point of design? Sometimes I think about this. With Christmas coming, people are constantly buying and selling things that they neither need nor consume. But instead, most of these waste will be disposed of. Should I care about the world now or the way that it becomes in the future? I contemplate this as I look at the designers today and the designs that are being developed. Many designers cut corners and motivate themselves by the mighty dollar. Maybe I'm backwards but when did the mighty dollar represented happiness.
Then there's the other side. Designers who claims to be changing the world. Who always believes that their designs are important research. Even if it is, no one's using it and no one's really caring. So if at the end, their products become a self indulgence, is it still a good design? I hope to be neither of the two. I want to create timeless designs that can sell and do something good in the world. I want to design the future. I want people to want to buy and use my design.
Sincerely,
LS

A Lost Touch.
Dear Friend,
With the current way that the world is at the moment, are we losing the value of the one next to us faster then we fathom? In America, the core of anyone's personal life is their own family but it's easy to take granted the friends that are next to you. The people who have always been there with you and the people who helps and comes when you call. However, with capitalism and corporatism, it's really difficult who is real and who's just there for a benefit. I call these systems the step ladder to loneliness. I really hope that during these holidays, everyone can share and give thanks to everyone who have been with you in your lives.
Sincerely,
LS

Autumn...New York...
Dear Friend,
Those who knows who I am knows that I'm currently not in the New York Area. But in 3 days, I'm coming back. Words cannot truly express how I feel. All I can say is, 'I miss it'. It's November now and it's the Autumn. It's probably really beautiful with the changing colors of the leaves. And the way that they fall, it's poetry.Right now, I can only imagine.
Autumn in New York, is a very special time of the year. From the excitement of Thanksgiving parades to the heart warming family gatherings, these traditional events defines and reestablishes the New York Autumn way of life that we have come to love through out the years.
As we all know, Little Space Shop is about reconnecting to our past by using everyday design. This year we've decided to do that for New York City, I've decided to show things in New York that we normally don't notice, little specials throughout time that makes New York the city that have dazzled our imaginations and warmed our hearts.
Sincerely,
LS

1940s.
Dear Friend,
Do these lyrics sound familiar?
"You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by"
A kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by"
Don't you miss the 1940s...well, you probably weren't born yet, well, neither was I. But don't you ever wonder what it was like? How people lived? What the lifestyle was? I recently revisited those times by watching Casablanca. It's definitely one of my favorite movies. Even though I know it's probably not a good way to interpret the way of life back then but it sure gave me glimpse of it. Some examples would be the airplanes, cars, even the piano that Sam played. It's all so classic. But one thing that I don't want to forget to mention is the way that they dress. It's so wonderful. I hope you get a chance to revisit those times like I did but until then, "here's looking at you kid".
Sincerely,
LS

Recipe:

(10cm x 19cm)-Frozen Pie Dough, 1-Egg Yok
Take out your frozen dough and leave for 30 minutes (you can make your own dough if you want) | Cut pumpkin in 1/2 and spoon out the seeds. Place the pumpkin in a container and microwave for 3 minutes | After it's been heated, peel off the skin, mash the pumpkin in to a paste, mix in sugar, butter, and cinnamon sugar |
Cut each pie sheet into 4 pieces totaling 8 pieces. Use a knife to cut slits on to 4 of the pieces, those will be the top of the pie. | Use a spoon to scoop the paste that we made earlier on to the 4 base sheet of the pie. | Place the top sheet on the base and paste and use a fork to press down on the edges. Do it for all 4 edges of all 4 pies. |
Mix the egg yolk in a bowl and then lightly brush the the yolk on to the surface of the pies. | Preheat the oven at 250°C. Bake for 10 minutes. The pies are ready when they are golden brown like the pic below. | Simple and Tasty. |
Have a Happy Halloween Everyone!

Feeling Nostalgic
Dear Friend,
After weeks of deliberation, I've finally started this blog, my little space shop. Don't get me wrong, it's not like there's a shop (not yet anyway) nor is there anything to sell, but instead, I'm looking for a space to express myself, my sense of nostalgia. Don't worry, I'm not going to reminisce about my past, my old high school nerd days or the time I flushed my underwear down the toilet by accident. No, I'm not going to do that, but I am going to share to you my opinion about how we can live a peaceful life. My job's not a philosopher nor is it a psychologist and I don't have the meaning of life up my sleeves(I wish I did!). But, I am a space designer. I look at the spaces that people live in and find ways to make it better. I create pieces of art from people's lives. I also romanticize everything. I like old fashion things. I like antiques and of course old television shows. I'll try to upload something next time so what I'm saying will be a little bit more interesting.
Sincerely,
LS
