I just recently finished building my own diy cnc router. A cnc (computer numerical controlled) router is a computer controlled cutting machine using a router. It's basically a laser cutter but instead of a laser it uses a router to cut (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tm-AMQpgEOw&feature=related). Whatever it is, it's 100% awesomeness. It took a lot of time and money but it was worth it at the end. I've named it 'Cloud' since my head is always in the clouds. I'm currently in the process of testing it and waiting for some new routing bits to arrive in the mail. If you're interested in making one, contact me asap cause it's not as easy as it seems.
